04 – Service Accounts – Local, Domain, MSA & GMSA

Odds are when you set up your SQL Server environment you configured domain accounts for your service accounts to run as.

You gave then robust passwords and the permissions they needed to do what they need to do.

Then you set the password never to expire and wrote down the password somewhere because it would suck to lose it and have to reconfigure.

(Admit it, we’ve all done that at some time)

In this session, we will look at our service accounts and go through various pros and cons to each type of account we can use.

We will then look at Managed Service Accounts, aka MSAs, and show how to get them set up correctly to allow your SQL Server to run with tighter security and without having to worry about password management anymore.

Duration: 60-minute discussion and demonstrations.
